James A. Allen, originally a native of Maine, began his journey through the business world by assisting with, and later inheriting, his father’s photography studio. Years after his father’s passing, he sold the company and joined forces with his now wife, Nancy, to build the successful Sarra-Allen Photography. In 1997, Jim left the photography field and began his career in the Financial Services industry.

This change in focus was motivated by a deep desire to help individuals and small businesses to uncover and strive to achieve their financial goals. Jim joined New York Life Insurance Company and worked intensely to build a successful business, which he expanded later in 1999 when he founded the Allen Financial Group.

Mr. Allen’s aspiration to assist his community goes above and beyond how he leads his clients to help realize their goals. Jim supports his community by serving as a contributor to many organizations by way of donation, including Habitat for Humanity, The Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut, & Save the Sound, and The Hartford Club.

In the nearly 20 years in the industry, he has received many accolades, including the prestigious Chairman’s Council from New York Life1, MDRT Court of the Table & Top of the Table awards1, and Lifetime Member achievement2. He is also a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and currently holds the following designations: CLTC, and LUTCF.

Jenilee Wirtz
Financial Services Professional/Client Executive

The Allen Financial Group’s newest member, Jenilee Wirtz, will be assisting in a registered representative and client executive capacity. In the final years of obtaining her undergrad in Business Administration at Eastern Connecticut State University, she began her career with an internship in the financial industry. It is there that she “fell in love with insurance” and her work was featured in the Insurance Journal of America. Directly proceeding her internship, in 2010, she began her Financial Services career with the New York Life Insurance Company. Jenilee was awarded “Executive Council” in 2014 in recognition of outstanding production levels.

Jenilee’s desire to share her passion and industry knowledge extends far beyond her clientele. From 2012-2014, she served as president of The Referrals on the River chapter of BNI in East Haddam. Supporting her community by way of small businesses patronage is very important to Jenilee, as she feels it is crucial to local economic growth. This community involvement reaches even further, as Jenilee’s philanthropic efforts include Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Connecticut Children's Medical Center, and The Block Island School. Another organization very dear to her is The Alzheimer's Association of Connecticut, where she serves as ambassador and coordinator of local fund raising events.
